I decided to write down Muhammad Uzair’s birth story, before I completely forget about it (can I?..hehe). Alhamdulillah, Allah has made it easy for me through all the process. Won’t make it a long-winded one. So here it goes:
18 April 2011
It was just another weekly checkup. Nothing strange happened. No pain, no nothing since my EDD (Estimated Due Date) is next week. Mom ok, baby healthy. CTG results also showed no contraction at all. So rilex je laa. Sempat lagi went to do various chores with hubby (bank, post office, etc.) Until…..
Home (5.00p.m.) - Went to the toilet. Blood started to come out a bit (uh ohh).
Wifey : Abg..meh sini jap..
Hubby: What happened?
Wifey : Ni…looks like blood…ke bukan kot (sempat lagi deny, hehe)
Hubby: Erk…alamak..really?? (panicky)
Wifey: Takpelah…tanye Umi
Umi: Owh…looks like it’s time…
Wifey: But..takde rase sakit ape2 pun..
Umi: Takpe, lets go to the hospital. Kalau takde takpe. (also panicky jugak..erkkk)
And so, off we went to DEMC. I’m wheeled to the emergency section and straightaway the nurse took me to the labour room (hati da bedebar sangat ni!!). So they checked me up. Ta daaa…already 1.5cm (alamakkk, i’m not ready!!!). Hubby looks relax (ehe..must look cool in front of wifey la). So the doctor gives me option, i can either go back or i can stay at the hospital since she explained the labour might only start tomorrow evening or the next day (first timers always shows slow progress). Decided to just stay there in case anything happens. Sempat lagi tengok Gemilang last episode while having mild and bearable contractions.
DEMC (10.30p.m.) – Went to the labour room for another round of checkup…
Nurse: Owh…da 2cm la…
Wifey: Owh okay..lambat lagi la ni…
Nurse: Hmm, biasanya macam tu la. Takpe jangan risau. Malam ni kita bagi pethidine (painkiller i think). Kalau rasa sakit sangat bagitahu kat nurse ye
Wifey: Ok, thank you.
I’m wheeled back to my room. It’s already 11p.m. Feeling very sleepy. Hubby slept at the sofa near the window. At this point, the contractions are still very mild and bearable. Off to sleep. Suddenly, i felt indescribable pain. Urrgghhh. Every 5 minutes. Tahan je la, lagipun lama lagi nak labour. So i kept quite and tahan je. But after a while it’s becoming stronger. Uhh, tak boleh tahan ni.
Wifey: Abang…help..
(Hubby fast asleep)
Oh noo…must page the nurse. So in came the nurses…(kesian hubby, terperanjat dia nurse masuk). He looked at me, and i said sakit..huhu
Nurse: Kenapa puan?
Wifey : Tak tau la. Ubat pethidine tadi macam tak jalan je. Sakit sangat ni...
Nurse: Owh okay takpe. Kita bawa puan pegi labour room ye…
19 April 2011
Labour room (1.00a.m.) – Water bag bursted. By this time contraction was really intense and painful and coming in the interval of 5 minutes. I was already curled in pain (luckily my hubby was there with me).
Labour room (2.00a.m.) – Already 8cm (waaahh…so fast!!). At this point the pain was unimaginable. The pethidine and nitrous oxide gas didn’t really relieve the pain. (more words of encouragement from hubby)
Labour room (2.30a.m.) – The pushing began. The encouragement from doctor and nurse made the process quite smoothly for me except the fact that I was really out of energy by that time. I thought I knew how to push well, but I really had drained most of my energy out to hold the pain during contraction. More and more pushes…
Labour room (3.29a.m.) - Alhamdulillah, Muhammad Uzair was safely delivered and immediately being put on me. No word can describe my feeling at that moment. The excruciating pain was simply washed away the moment I saw him and cradle him in my arms. I kissed his cheek. Hubby kiss my forehead, overjoyed. After being cleaned, he was then being ‘azan-ed’ by hubby (now da jadi Abi). Tok Abah and Jidda already waiting patiently at the waiting room (da x sabar ni nak tengok first cucu). They were also completely overjoyed at the first sight of baby Uzair.
So that’s Muhammad Uzair’s birth story. The experience has really made me realized that all the childbirth stories that I heard or read before are not imagined or exaggerated (memang sakit, errghhh). When the mothers tell you the pain is indescribable, please trust them that no words can ever represent the feeling. You just have to go through the whole experience and feel it yourself.
However….It was the best moments of our lives. PRICELESS!!
